INTERNSHIP
About the Internship
The Food+ Policy Internship program provides Hawaiʻi college students and young farmers with hands-on experience in civic engagement, professional work environments, and problem-solving through the lens of food systems advocacy.
The internship runs in tandem with the legislative session from January to May. Most of the work is done remotely, making it accessible to neighbor island applicants. Interns are required to attend weekly team meetings and learning sessions. These sessions feature presentations, discussions, and activities designed to deepen understanding of the legislative process, often including guest speakers involved in food systems advocacy.
In addition to these meetings, interns will track bills related to food and agriculture through the state legislative process, develop written testimony on bills, and communicate with the Hawaiʻi community about important legislation via newsletter campaigns, social media, opinion pieces, community outreach events, and other creative means. Join us to make a meaningful impact on Hawaiʻi's food systems and gain valuable experience in advocacy and policy.
